I had so many questions, and this answered a few of them but also left me with so many more questions :) I can't wait for the next installment. Love the new character and how she ties into the ending of the first book. Mostly, though, I love the vivid images I'm left with and the questions floating through my head, and the disappointment when I hit the last page but also knowing you are out there conjuring up the next book which can't come soon enough!PS I only write reviews for books I love... so that's why all my reviews seem to be 4 and 5 star. If I don't like a book, I don't finish reading it. Too busy for that!!
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Continues to evolve By D.H. Excellent series with so many layers. Both novellas are well worth the dollar. Can't wait until the next one is out. Glynn James stands apart in this genre for his effective characterisation and emotional depth that would translate well into any style. Good writing is universal.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Short, But Sweet By Auroranonymous First off, the traditional disclaimer: I don't usually write reviews for anything, but I LOVE this author. I discovered Glynn James through Amazon, when I first read "The Journal of James Halldon: The Diary of the Displaced, Book 1", and promptly devoured everything of his that I could get my hands on. When I first read "Thrown Away, Book 1 (In a Fallen World)", my initial reaction was annoyance that there was not more to the book. One of the things that I love best about this author is his ability to create characters that are well-developed, believable, and, most importantly, compelling, so such a short book felt like a betrayal. However, I am coming to believe that a great deal of the charm of this series is in its brevity. The protagonist, Jack, himself is a very laconic individual, so it is entirely in character for these books to be the same. I would also liken these books to the old film serials of the early 20th century; now we only need the author to release a new "episode" every week, and the analogy would be perfect!
