This is a sweet story of Penny By Carla Shaffer Evans This is a sweet story of Penny, a little dog who tries her best to save an abused & suffering dog in her neighborhood. There were lots of surprises along the way, which made the story very exciting, however, there were so many grammatical errors that became quite the distraction, especially toward the last quarter of the book. That aside, this author writes great stories, which reflect her true love of dogs.

I read all sorts of Jane Austen spinoffs, and rarely walk away satisfied. Not so with Aston's novels. (The Second Mrs. Darcy was my favorite.) I keep checking to see if she has written anything new, and was delighted to find this short story. And how deliciously cruel to end it right at the climax! You've had your fun with us now, Ms. Aston. Now, knock it off and give us another novel!

Okay Valentine is a cute name and the cover is nice, but it is such a predicable story and ends so suddenly. I didn't find it a good read.

She is to make her come out at the London season and hopefully find a husband. She is an heiress and her unconventional behaviour means she stands out from the crowd. Unfortunately someone who knew her in Calcutta has also appeared in London and could cause trouble for her.This is a light-hearted Regency romantic short story which will appeal to readers of this author’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ continuations. It may also appeal to those readers who have read and loved the modern Mountjoy novels. The characters are well drawn and interesting and I would love to read more about Valentine herself and the nineteenth century Mountjoys.

The magazine, "Southern Voices," is published each year containing creative writing from the student body - juniors and seniors in high school. This is a collection of the first prize winners since the school's conception in the early 90s.As a former student of MSMS, I am so happy to have this collection of short stories. The writings from these students are insanely good for writers of their age. The stories vary in plot but not in quality.I'm so glad this has been published. I love it. I highly recommend to everyone!

3 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Disappointed while pleased By D I eagerly anticipated the release of this cookbook. I am Italian American with maternal roots in Roma. I have enjoyed many superb meals while visiting there.The recipes are delicious and authentic.The stories are delightful as if we are at dinner with friends who are telling us of their travels to Rome and they give us recipes as a favor to take home.My disappointment is because part of my enjoyment of cookbooks comes from the photography, the feel of the paper, the closeup of the subject. With sincere apologies to the photographer, I feel cheated in this book. I have seen other wonderful works of hers. For cookbooks though, I have been spoiled for decades by the type of detailed photos that a Martha Stewart magazine or cookbook offers.I felt a disconnect in this book, too muted, as if I were behind a curtain looking in. I wanted to be closer. I don't know if it's about the camera, the angle, the paper but I feel left wanting more for my money.

The information is factual, yet presented in a way that children can understand and enjoy. Ms Blanchan's descriptions make the birds come alive!

It says "every child should know," but it is also for adults who want to know more about birds.

I have been making smoothies for years, but this book allowed me to be more creative and adventurous, combining healthy vegetables and fruits in new ways that are chock full of nutrition, AND taste great.
