Schick In these two short stories, the author shows us a deep seated passion for life even in characters in deep despair and contemplating suicide. Seen through the eyes of the downtrodden, economic survival is a chancy thing. Debt piles up as limited incomes are diverted by substance-abusing family members, and clients refuse to pay their service providers.After reading these stories, city streets look even more dangerous to me.- Kathy Schick
