Where past meets future By Cathrine Bonham A very fast read about a starving family willing to try anything to fill their empty bellies.The best part is the atmosphere. This story takes place in the future but at the same time it has a historic feel to it. It might be the descriptions of poverty and forced factory work bringing to mind images of the industrial revolution. Or it might just be the setting of Ireland itself that blurs the line between past, present and future.Either or, this story is the better for it. Instead of being lost in a strange future world the reader is instead captivated by the problem of this one family.The characters are so human they tug at your heart strings: the mother as she struggled to make her meager rations go three ways, the Father willing to feed his family weeds if it means they can live another day, their border who has only prayers to give in return for the roof they provide her.Like all dystopia stories this is a small, meaningful slice of the human condition.

LaPlant A great read and many of the beloved characters from earlier reads are back again. Great flow and suspense keep the reader engaged with the situation and the characters. I loved the prologues as well. They helped me to anticipate the action. Thanks for a fine book!
