Outstanding Story By Benjamin Douglass Writing a story about a woman who wants to write if done well is truly a clever feat and Alice Munro does an outstanding job. I not only recommend this story but all the ones in her Dear Life collection. She writes from experience and her own humanity.
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Steady and short By skmkirk This is how Alice Munro writes: Steady, unpretentious, conversational, with the real story in the background. The character of the landlord was predictable and given a little longer length might have been developed into a much fuller, and darker, man. Canadians as a people are often private and almost formal in their straightforwardness. The author here shows some grit in the pursuit of her own room to write, so it was disappointing to read how long it took for her to direct her own independence.
