Classic Ellison--a treasure for those who haven't discovered him yet By Cyndee Nideter Harlan Ellison is probably the greatest living short story writer, and certainly can write with the best of the classics (de Maupassant, Shirley Jackson, F. Scott Fitzgerald. . . .) His voice is so distinctive and strong that I could read his work forever. This collection is from the early sixties. My dad had a copy and one day I reached up to the SF shelf and plucked it off. I was immediately grabbed (if you will forgive the passive voice for a moment) by the story about the deadly nightshade and continued through the rest of the stories. If you haven't read Ellison, this is as good a place to start as any. But start. You're doing yourself a favor.
