THERE HAVE BEEN MANY BOOKS AND MOVIES ON THE SUBJECT FROM FROM THE PERIOD OF SLAVERY AND THE CIVIL WAR. THIS BOOK TELLS THE REAL STORY OF OF A MORE CURRENT PERIOD STARTING AROUND 1939 AND THE BOOK TELLS THE STORY OF SAUNDERS CARSON AND HIS FAMILY WHO OWNED AND BUILT SYKES PLACE WHICH WAS ONE OF THE MOST OUTSTANDING PLANTATIONS IN THE SOUTH AND WAS LOCATED NEAR COLUMBUS, MISSISSIPPI. I FOUND IT VERY IMPORTANT IN READING THE BOOK BY JOHN CARSON, ONE OF SAUNDER'S SONS. THE BOOKS TELLS IN A REAL WAY HOW MR. CARSON TREATED HIS EMPLOYEES, ALMOST ALL OF WHOM WERE BLACK AND THEIR FAMILIES . IF YOU LIKE TO READ ABOUT SOUTHERN HISTORY THEN THIS IS A MUST READ. AND THE BOOK TELLS ABOUT SOUTHERN FARM LIFE THAT HAS NOT BEEN WRITTEN ABOUT FROM THIS PERSPECTIVE. TOM
