Descriptions are pretty good on techniques and what to do as well as what not to do. The book is very basic though and may not be a great help to 1st timers with no previous exposure to field dressing.

If you're dressed dozens the book should present tips you'll find useful. Like, "Hmmm. That sounds like a great idea. Wonder why I never thought about doing it that way?!" The book is not expensive. It's small enough to slip into a pocket or backpack. It reads easily enough for a young teen about to embark on his or her first deer hunt and if they are lucky and bag a deer, they'll be able to do the important part..... proper cleaning and preparation for the dinner table. I've hunted since the 60's and found the book interesting and useful.

It's compact in size so it doesn't take up much room in her pack. It takes a direct approach with the illustrations and descriptions. Exactly what I was hoping for. I would make this purchase again.
