About the Author A 41-year-old single mother of two grown kids, Sonia Lacasse spent most of her life overweight, a heavy drinker, chain smoker, and food junkie. At the age of 35, she decided to turn things around and embrace a healthy lifestyle. Having struggled with her weight her entire life, she fell victim to the diet syndrome on many occasions and starved herself for months in order to lose the pounds. Sure, the weight would come off, but it was only be a matter of time before it all came back, because she didn’t know how to feed her body properly and, more important, make it stick. She eventually started a blog, The Healthy Foodie, to keep herself accountable as well as keep track of the food she ate and the recipes she created. In doing so, she discovered that she has a real passion for food and that eating healthy, wholesome food in no way means that flavor or pleasure have to be sacrificed. Although Sonia initially meant for the blog to be nothing more than a personal online food diary, it soon became evident that her growing number of followers weren’t just getting inspiration from her healthy recipes, but were actually trying them out. It wasn’t long before she started receiving positive comments and emails on a regular basis from readers who had tried and liked her recipes, wanted to thank her for being an inspiration and for putting so much love and care into her blog, or simply wanted to tell her how much they enjoyed her mouthwatering photography. Before she could even realize it, the small seed that she’d planted had grown into a large and magnificent plant, and she eventually embraced a career as a full-time food blogger. Her sense of humor shines through in her writing. I especially appreciate the step by step instructions for Foolproof Mayo (so easy, so delicious!). Szechuan Chicken, Honey Sesame Chicken and Ground Beef Breakfast Bowls are my favorites so far. The recipes and instructions are just so easy to follow that she makes me want to try dishes I wouldn't otherwise be interested in, so I'm actually expanding my food horizons because of her, and isn't that why we buy cookbooks?I have about 15 Paleo cookbooks, many from the more famous Paleo bloggers, but this is hands down the best tasting food. Thank goodness she has a blog to tide me over under her next cookbook comes out.

Having been on the paleo diet for only 2 weeks, I was happy to be able to pick this up and read through it a little to gain insight into new ideas. I noticed the striking resemblance to Against All Grain, which I already had. The pictures are vibrant and clear and make you want to cook everything in the book in a single day.When I got home with the book, I checked the publisher on both books, and yes, it is the same. Paleo Home Cooking uses nicely labeled icons telling the reader exactly what's in store for them (whether a recipe is time intensive, freezer friendly, etc.) much the same as are used in the second AAG book.New ideasWhat makes this book stand out for me, as a guy living in New York, is that the author is French Canadian and in her words brings " a distinct touch to the paleo world." This book is definitely full of recipes that are new to me in style and (sometimes) ingredients. And a diet that cuts out most of what I was used to eating needs new flavors to prevent it from being boring.The exprerimentThe day after I bought the book, I made the Meatloaf with Sour Cherry Sauce (p. 190). It didn't take too long and the recipe doesn't rely on fancy cooking techniques, a plus for me. The dish is great, with really nice flavors. I made some asparagus and carrots for the sides and poured the cherry sauce on those as well. What I loved most about it was the fact that I have never seen it before nor is it something I would ever dream of eating, let alone cooking. But I did and it was fantastic.Final thoughtsThis is another great book by this publisher. The recipes are cool and easy to follow, the pictures are awesome, and the icons are a nice way to outline what's in store for you.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Absolutely the best Cookbook ever! By Marianne I receive my copy of Paleo Home Cooking yesterday. All I can say is, oh my god!!!! I got so emotional going thru it that I felt compelled to write this review. Everything about that book is perfect! From the photos, to the food, everything! I especially liked how Sonia broke down the Paleo way into such a simple, easy to remember format. I've been struggling with Paleo and Keto for about a year now, so this information in this format will truly help. I've tried Sonia's recipes in the past and enjoyed them so much that I had to buy this book. The recipes in this book look gorgeous, and I have most of the ingredients in my kitchen anyway, so I can't wait to start cooking!
