Review "Her (Cradit's) talent for creating atmosphere rivals Daphne du Maurier. This is modern Gothic with fierce smarts. Can't say it enough. I loved this book."- Christopher Rice, New York Times Bestselling Author of The Heavens Rise"It takes a great writer like Cradit to weave the threads of so many characters into an enjoyable story. I have no doubt that the name Cradit will one day be associated with the echelon of gothic fiction writers, namely Radcliffe, Blackwood, and Rice."- Becket, Bestselling Author and Assistant to Anne Rice"Sarah Cradit's writing is tight and masterful. Her keen sense of how to pace a book and her ability to use just the right language to express the desires, fears and hopes of her characters is flawless."- Ionia Martin, Vine Top 100 Reviewer, Readful Things"Cradit does an incredible job of building suspense. It's a slow, moody, edge of your seat suspense with a palpable sense of foreboding. This atmosphere kicks the book off and slowly escalates as you sink deeper into it."- Julie Whiteley, Clue Review"The books are well written, the plot flows so quickly that you reach the end of the story well before you are ready and without realizing how much time has gone by since you were enchanted, committed and flung into the world of the Sullivan's, Deschanel's and their friends. You become a part of their lives as you are reading the books and think about the characters long after you have finished reading the book."- Stephenee Carsten, Nerd Girl Official"The writing is top-notch, the story gripping and fast-paced, and the character development incredible. I will be impatiently awaiting the next installment."- Teri Polen, Books & Such

About the Author Sarah is the USA Today Bestselling Author of the Paranormal Southern Gothic series, The House of Crimson & Clover, born of her combined passion for New Orleans, and the mysterious complexity of human nature. Her work has been described as rich, emotive, and highly dimensional. An unabashed geek, Sarah enjoys studying obscure subjects like the Plantagenet and Ptolemaic dynasties, and settling debates on provocative Tolkien topics such as why the Great Eagles are not Gandalf's personal taxi service. Passionate about travel, Sarah has visited over twenty countries collecting sparks of inspiration (though New Orleans is where her heart rests). She's a self-professed expert at crafting original songs to sing to her very patient pets, and a seasoned professional at finding ways to humiliate herself (bonus points if it happens in public). When at home in Oregon, her husband and best friend, James, is very kind about indulging her love of fast German cars and expensive lattes. Insightful bundle of vignettes about key characters in the exciting House of Crimson and Clover series By Xkoqueen A collection of lagniappes from Sarah Cradit's House of Crimson and Clover series.Flourish: The Story of Anne Fontaine was originally published with the title Beyond Dusk: Anne (House of Crimson and Clover)Beyond Dusk is the second book in the House of Crimson and Clover series by Sarah Cradit. It is a crisply written novella that ties up a few loose ends from book one, St. Charles at Dusk. This series is best read in order to appreciate how the story unfolds. In Beyond Dusk, we learn more about Anne Fontaine and a her mother Angelique. Anne's upbringing by a domineering mother clearly impacts her self-worth, but with her mother dead and buried, she now has the freedom to learn more about her biological father and the interesting traits she has inherited from his gene pool. To say more would spoil the read. The novella is short which makes the concise writing all the more impressive. It provides an interesting peak into both the Deschanel and Fontaine families that I'm sure will come to play in later books. The Deschanel skepticism is all too present and the weird, slightly uncomfortable situation it creates was fabulously written.I have thoroughly enjoyed all three of the books in the series that I have read, and Beyond Dusk has made me hungry to continue on with the series.Surrender:This is a short story companion to the House of Crimson and Clover series by Sarah Credit It tells of one night between key characters, Oz and Ana. Oz, Ana, and her brother, Nicholas, have been best friends since the beginning. At age sixteen, Nicholas realizes Oz loves Ana, and he gives him the nod to pursue his sister. Too worried that he’ll screw up his friendship with Ana, Oz does nothing about his infatuation, and she ends up going to the prom with another boy. When events lead to Ana and Oz being alone in the hotel after the after prom party what follows is a night they'll never forget. I love how Sarah explains so much in a short story and now we understand the dynamics better between the three of them. I truly enjoy Sarah Cradit’s character explorations through her lagniappes about the Deschanel clan.Shame:Shame: The Story of Jonathan St. Andrews is a short story installment to the House of Crimson and Clover series by Sarah Credit. The series is primarily set in New Orleans, La, however, this short story and The Storm and the Darkness are set on a small island off the coast of Maine. To appreciate this book to the fullest, you need to be fully vested in the House of Crimson and Clover series; to read Shame: The Story of Jonathan St. Andrews as a stand alone short story, will not do it justice.Readers of the series first met Jonathan St. Andrews in The Storm and the Darkness. He is quiet and keeps to himself to the point of being hermit-like. He lacks social skills and prefers the animals in his veterinary practice to humans. Shame is Jonathan St. Andrews’ back story. The details behind how he became such a recluse with a harden heart. The Storm and the Darkness was one of my favorite in the series, and I really appreciated the character insight that Shame: The Story of Jonathan St. Andrews gave me. Jonathan became a much more sympathetic character after reading this short story. Not only do readers get into Jonathan’s head, but there is some great development of an ancillary characters, Alex Whitman and Carla Edgewater.Fire and Ice:I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest reviewFire and Ice by Sarah Cradit is an extremely short character back story of the Fontenot Twins, Remy and Fleur. The twins are minor secondary characters in Ms. Cradit's House of Clrimson and Clover series. This attention to the twins might mean they will have a larger role in the culmination of this series. The writing is technically good, and I would have appreciated this entertaining vignette more if the characters had bigger roles in the main series. Devotees of the series learn of the twins supernatural powers and the fontenot clan's affinity for kinky games at their annual Mardis Gras party. Some of the main characters in the series make brief appearances in this short story.Sarah Cradit has created interesting characters, and she has diligently provided detailed settings and back stories for the characters. I'm looking forward to Ms. Cradit returning to the main story and providing her readers with an epic culmination to this series.Dark Blessing:Sarah Cradit's Dark Blessings is a "lagniappe". It is a vignette that introduces us to more characters that will add to the complexity of her House of Crimson and Clover series. Dark Blessings does not advance the overall plot of the series, and because there currently is no tie in to the main story line, it can be read as a stand alone short story.Kelley, Kieran, and Dillon are triplets, and they are related to the Sullivan clan through their mother. As young boys, they were fascinated by vampires. As they grow up, only Kelley remains enthralled with vampires. When he is sought out by Queen Edith, he takes advantage of her knowledge in order to meet Vincenc, one of the oldest vampires around.Vincent and Kelley make a deal that I am sure will somehow impact the House of Crimson and Clover series later on. We will all have to keep reading this involved series to find out how it all evolves!

Well, apparently, Anne had the same curiosity. In this excerpt you get to find out how Anne comes "home" and leads so much more than she could have ever, had she stayed in the bayou. This is a quick read and, as all of these books do, fill in the blanks! I love these stories!!!!Surrender:Do you remember your first time? Were you excited? Were you scared? What happens if you were such an introvert, you couldn't see the love, one of your best friends has for you? Ana Deschanel is just coming of age. It's hard enough to cross the threshold of girlhood to adulthood, but she is faced with the man, she thought was her best friend, becoming the one to take her over that threshold. Fall in love with Ana and Oz's story! I know I did :).Shame:Jon St. Andrews is a kid just trying to graduate...better, yet, survive high school. He is bullied by none other than the most popular boy, Lionel Shepard. But what Lionel doesn't know, is while he has the most beautiful girl in school, on his arm, her mind could not be further from him. After a particularly bad fight between Carla and Lionel, Carla wonders down to the beach. By chance, it is Jon's beach. A chance meeting or did the fates intervene? A heartbreaking tale of love, betrayal, fear, and the biggest secret that may just tear Jon St. Andrews apart, lies ahead in Shame.Fire & Ice:What a tasty little extension of our beloved Crimson and Clover series. This little gem is properly titled as you will find yourself heating up and in need of some serious cooling off! Quick read and well worth it!

I love every single one of Sarah's stories By Kristy Feltenberger Gillespie I love every single one of Sarah's stories!Shame- After reading The Storm and the Darkness, I wondered why Jonathan St. Andrews felt such incredible darkness. After reading Shame, I understand why. "There is no meaning to be found in others...None. There is nothing but ourselves and our darkness. I knew this already, but I'll not ever let myself forget it again." (74) After Jon's story, I feel more empathy for him and his dark past. Once again, an excellent tale from Ms. Cradit!Surrender- I absolutely love the House of Crimson & Clover series. Ana is one of my favorite characters because on the outside she's a woman who seemingly has it all- beauty, wealth, education- and yet on the inside she's deeply flawed & her own worst enemy. Nicholas is a trip as usual, Oz is an all around stand up guy, just like his cousin Clancy (who was introduced in this short story). However, I feel the need to warn readers who haven't read a novel by Sarah M. Cradit- once you read one, you'll quickly devour the rest of the series, then you'll have to wait patiently for the next. Fortunately Sarah doesn't make her readers wait too long for the next novel!Flourish- Beyond Dusk: Anne is A House of Crimson and Clover Novelette which may be read as a stand alone. However, the series is fantastic and once you read one of the books in the series, you'll surely read them all. This novelette tells the story of Anne Fontaine, Adrienne and Nicholas Deschanel's half sister, who travels to New Orleans to meet with Adrienne. Unlike her half siblings who reside in an exquisite plantation home, Anne grew up in a shack in the Louisiana bayou. Now that her mother is dead and her brother is moving on to Baton Rouge, Anne no longer feels tied to her childhood home. However, meeting with Adrienne is no easy feat. In fact, Anne has to communicate through Adrienne's husband, Oz Sullivan, and her brother Nicholas Deschanel, in order to speak with her sister. Over the years a number of women have claimed familial ties to the incredibly wealthy Deschanel family, so it makes sense that Oz and Nicholas are weary.Nicholas follows Anne to a bar and attempts to fill her with liquor because alcohol after all is truth serum, and he's convinced that she's simply another con artist. However, when Nicholas meets Anne, he realizes that there's something different about her and finds her strangely attractive. After multiple shots of liquor, Nicholas drives Anne back to the Deshanel plantation, where Anne has an intense reaction. Nicholas realizes that Anne is in fact a Deschanel, for supernatural powers is a family trait.I enjoyed Beyond Dusk: Anne which was a quick but powerful read that allowed me to get to know Anne's fascinating story. I definitely recommend this novelette as well as the Crimson and Clover series as a whole.Fire and Ice- Fleur Fontenot has the gift of ice and her twin brother has the gift of fire. The Fontenot twins are used to getting what they want, but in the Fire and Ice novella, neither do. Fire and Ice is a quick, exciting read and I was only disappointed when it ended.Dark Blessing- I loved meeting new characters in Dark Blessing. Kelley Landry has 2 identical brothers who know what they want to do- one's a scholar and the other is an athlete. Kelley on the other hand is still researching vampire lore like he and his brothers did when they were kids. When Kelley meets Edith, a fellow vampire researcher and a very good one at that, she convinces him to travel with her to meet an actual vampire. I'm curious to find out what happens in the sequel because Dark Blessing is so interesting.
