About the Author Henry Henkel was born in 1955 and grew up in Seaford, New York, a small town on the South Shore of Long Island. After a life in the suburban public school system, Henry graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo where he began to write short stories. Henry has a Master’s Degree in Literature from New York University and spent three years as chairman of the English department at a New York private school. He currently works in the financial services industry. Henry lives with his wife and four children in Princeton Junction, New Jersey. He is at work on his second collection of short stories, Of Cypress and Sunflowers.

By Leeword Crafting a short story with vivid characters, emotional resonance, startling irony, and something meaningful to say about life and being human--in other words, a moral--is a daunting feat for accomplished fiction writers. A collection of ten "modern fables," Bald Spots & Blue Suits introduces a memorable cast of cynics, opportunists, and wretched souls who haven't quite lost all hope or humanity. In Henkel's world, trouble strikes when ordinary, flawed mortals try to cheat fate, escape old age, or dare to believe in foolish dreams. Along with the title story, my favorite selections are "Visto's Church: An Apologue," "Cinderella Has Cellulite," and "Song for the Wretched." A collection for serious fans of haunting short fiction and book groups that thrive on thoughtful discussions.
