Not everyone climbs mountains and not everyone can capture the experience with stunning photographs. Daniel and Kazuya, however, have done just that! Join them on the northern border of Yamagata and the southern border of Akita Prefectures, Japan and view through their camera's eye their climbs of this still active volcano (most recent eruption - 1974) and second highest mountain in the Tohoku Region of Japan in unique photos. No matter where you are in the world you'll savor this one-of-a-kind armchair adventure. On a clear morning the shadow of this mountain can be seen on the Sea of Japan, only a few kilometers to the west; Daniel and Kazuya were fortunate enough to witness this phenomenon and you too will see it in photos. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Gorgeous photos of incredible mountainscapes By Kindle Customer In this brief but lovely book, the author/photographers show photographs from three separate climbs of this stunning mountain. The photos include everything from closeups of the wildflowers to thrilling images from the peak, including several shots of sun dogs (when atmospheric conditions make it look as though there are multiple suns) and a stunning shot of the mountain's shadow over the sea. The photographers are both professionals and the quality shines through each shot. There's relatively little description of the climb itself, aside from a rather laconic mention of the parts of the mountain where the climbing was dangerous enough that they didn't take pictures. (Yikes.)Photographers or the curious will enjoy the comments on exactly when the photos were taken, as well as the details on the very few photos that were digitally altered and the reasons.Heartily recommended.
