Aunt Jo's Scrap-Bag, by Louisa May Alcott

About the Author American novelist Louisa May Alcott is best known for her classic coming-of-age novel Little Women, and its sequels Little Men and Jo s Boys. The daughter of noted transcendentalist and educator Amos Bronson Alcott and Abigail May Alcott, Alcott was an active abolitionist and feminist, and the first woman registered to vote in Concord, Massachusetts. Schooled mainly by her father, Alcott and her three sisters also received lessons from such notables as Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Margaret Fuller. Alcott penned her first book, Flower Fables, for Emerson s daughter, Ellen. Before gaining critical success for her children s fiction, Alcott wrote several passionate adult novels using the pen name A. M. Barnard, including A Long Fatal Love Chase and Punishment. Alcott s literary career spanned more than 40 years, and she wrote more than 30 books before her death in 1888.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful little book with superb short stories! By Daisy S The very first book that I read by Louisa May Alcott was Little Women. And my favorite character was Jo. This little book is written by Louisa using Jo (from Little Women) to tell these wonderful short stories. Each one is different and I found all of them very interesting to read. The one that I found the most meaningful is the last story entitled: Patty's Patchwork. This little story has so much wisdom in it and it is written so vividly that I can envision Patty now. First of all, it covers making a quilt and how to design the quilt and make the quilt attractive and very meaningful! Since I am a huge patchwork quilt person, this chapter is dear to my heart.Personally, I have read several of Louisa's books, yet this one (along with Little Women) is among my favorite classic books!Highly recommend this book, especially if you like short stories AND Louisa May Alcott!

Her "observations" of "looking into her neighbors back windows and her story of two children changing places with their parents are well worth reading. However; my favorite story is about "Buzz" I will leave you to discover the delights of this workRonda

It was a delight to find out that they are available for the Kindle. Old and new, some things are never out of date!
