About the Author Amanda Tero is a homeschool graduate whose desire is to provide God-honoring reading material. Her current projects include short stories and novels-in-progress. When she was a young teenager, Amanda was obsessed with writing. However, the Lord helped her to realize that she was writing for her personal pleasures and purposes - not His. For several years, she put away "pleasure writing" and wrote mainly Biblical articles for several years (which she still continues). She found the time of writing silence beneficial in gleaning from God's Word and strengthening the focus of why she writes. Since 2013, the Lord directed her to begin writing fiction again. The main character, Meg, desires to spend time in God's word, but her daily responsibilities to her family cut her time short and cause her many frustrations until she learns to surrender her time to God by surrendering it to others. Tero beautifully captures Meg's change of heart, as well as painting the difference between reading the Bible and obeying the Bible. All of Tero's books have enjoyable stories with a godly message, but this one is my favorite!! The Lord has reminded me of its message several times since reading it (we all are faced with those moments throughout the day when we must decide if we're going to serve others). Highly recommend it!

I could feel the main character's turmoil through the words chosen. Not a good feeling at first! But the end was so sweet it wiped the former agitation away. The principle taught was a good one that, from my experience, is true. This story is a good reminder of what Christian living truly is, with excellent Scriptures included. From beginning to end, this little story is true-to-life. I started laughing halfway through it. I had just reached a part [mild SPOILER] where Alan is asking for coffeecake for breakfast, and Meg is snappy and tells him she's busy, inspiring my sympathy with the good-natured Alan, when, hark, someone in *my* family calls for lunch. But-But--I'm in the middle of the story, and-- Then I started laughing as I set down the story and went to serve. Good, inspiring story! One improvement that I would have liked to have seen was a later apology to Alan, or at least the intention of apologizing. I enjoyed the interaction, both negative and positive, between Meg and her youngest sister, because it was so realistic. There is a recipe included for coffee cake included. Thank you for another teaching story, Amanda!

Wonderful Family-Centered Story By Margaret Dashwood Wow! :-) This refreshing short story brought a genuine smile to my face and a renewed conviction to my heart - and I'm not even the intended audience (young adult). Amanda Tero tells the simple story of Meg, a newly-graduated teenager whose family responsibilities continue to "deprive" her of Bible time. Meg felt like such a real person to me - her struggles and responses are authentic, ringing true throughout the story. It's not too often that I find a great story with engaging, fallible characters... with a fantastic Scriptural (but not preachy) message to go with it, but this is definitely one of them! :-)Highly recommending for family read-alouds, and I'd also say that, while the main character is an older teenager, there's no content at all that would prevent me from recommending it to a good reader from 10 years old and up.*I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I haven't received any other compensation and was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
