About the Author The author is a native Floridian. Graduated from St. Petersburg High school and the University of Alabama. Army veteran of the Korean War. Had a thirty-six year career with the Federal Government. Worked for the U.S. Army, Internal Revenue Service and retired from NASA at Kennedy Space Center where he served as Chief Administration and Logistics for Expendable Launch Vehicle operations and Shuttle Payloads Operations. He lives in Titusville, FL with wife Joan. They have two adult sons. His works have received awards in several short story contests. His first Southern novel, "FIRE ANGELS" received a five star review in the 2014 Writer's Digest self-published e-book competition.

Despite the infrequent typographical errors common in self-published books, it is a joy to read. His stories and poems reminded me of my early fascination with O. Henry’s twisted endings. Richardson’s wit and humor shine behind stories that might have tragic endings otherwise. When I read the last word on page 190, I was sad there were no more stories. Of the more than three dozen stories and poems, my favorites were “Mrs. Bailey’s Butterbeans” and “The Last of the Red Hot Marbles,” though “Between Abelard and Zola” came in a close third. This book, with its Florida beach cover, is available on Amazon and can be ordered through any bookstore. It left me wanting to read more.

Prepare to enjoy the experience of reading "Waiting and Other Stories" By Holly Fox Vellekoop, MSN, Author What a great experience it was for me to read the short stories and poems in this book. I found them to be entertaining, touching and often poignant, with a great depth of material, The social commentary in the short story, "My Criminal Past," has never been more relevant than it is today. Embedded within this book are some tales of the real heroes of this country - our military men and women who have kept us free from oppression. Richardon's work in "Waiting and Other Stories" is fresh and full of the American life we were fortunate to enjoy.

With a fine eye for detail By Mama Maybelle I have been after Joe Richardson for years to make a collection of his short stories, and he has finally done it. Waiting and other stories is an eclectic mix of fiction, recollections, poetry, and essays. Some are poignant; some are quirky. Some have a twist reminiscent of O.Henry or Poe. But my absolute favorites are the stories set in the rural Ocala, Florida, area where Joe grew up during the Depression. With a fine eye for detail, Joe brings that place and time to life with humor and affection. A great read!
