Bree thought she had gotten over the past ,until her grandson won a music contest bringing the man she once loved into her new world, but old wounds left in her heart by this very man have made there way back into her life .Will they be able to talk about the past and fix what has been done or is it to late ? This was such a sweet , heartwarming romance that was at times very emotional for such a small read . You will be routing for these two to find their way back to one another after you find out the real story behind their breakup so long ago...Thank you Linnea for writing a book about an older couple finding their way back to each other after years of feeling painful loss and betrayals. It was a beautifully written short story , just the right size and didn't feel like anything was missing .

This brief snapshot of Sammy and Bree, a couple now in their fifties, who have been separated for thirty years, is very well-written although a little too short for my taste. That being said, there is a lot of emotion here as these two people reconnect after all of this time. Still very much in love, there are many things to be explained and transgressions to be forgiven if they are to have any chance at all of a reconciliation.I really enjoyed the author's writing style and I will definitely be reading more from her. I recommend Heart Strings for anyone who enjoys second chance romances and who doesn't have several free hours at their disposal to devote to reading a full-length novel.

Another self published, typo riddled, ebook want to be a book By DPierce This book was obviously written by an amateur and the recipes seem to be made up of bachelor type offerings like for green chili pork and a can of green chili. Then it goes to the extreme where you make braised short rib's with spirulina and woodear's, whatever the heck those are. I chalk this up to just one more bad instant pot recipe cookbook. The search goes on.

There was no contact information for me to write to get the actual ingredients. I haven't looked at all the recipes and am hoping that they are all complete and accurate.I liked the price.

Confusing instructions By jelly bean I questioned one recipe because it had no liquid (Salt Baked Chicken) and lo and behold, found it on the Instant Pot site. However, I don't believe this cookbook is an authorized cookbook by the Instant Pot company. The blueberry croissant pudding has confusing instructions. It tells you to place ingredients in a heat proof bowl but doesn't tell you that you'll place that bowl inside the Instant Pot. And if you do place the bowl inside the Instant Pot, you'd better be sure to place it on a trivet and add water to the bottom of the pot. Otherwise, your pot will overheat and the pudding won't cook. On the other hand, if you're going to cook it in the Instant Pot liner, then why go to all the trouble of a heat proof bowl? This is the 2nd cookbook I've gotten for my kindle with the same exact recipe and same confusing instructions. This may have some decent recipes, however, could be a problem for someone just learning to use an Instant Pot.

His enthusiasm is reminiscent of John Muir. Nothing mind bending in here, but if you are a wanderer and nature lover you will really be able to sink your teeth into his stories of electrical storms, dissecting trees and falling through ice.

This book provides very practical information. I have had it for about two weeks and it's already helping! I have suffered from IBS for years and have quite a few materials on the subject. I think the most surprising thing that I learned so far is how my favorite "healthy" staples have been contributing to my symptoms. For example, some items for me are: apples, blackberries, whole wheat bread (gluten), broccoli, Greek yogurt, and agave to name a few! I can literally feel the difference.

Of the five stories in this volume, "The Lagoon," the last in order, is the earliest in date. It is the first short story I ever wrote and marks, in a manner of speaking, the end of my first phase, the Malayan phase with its special subject and its verbal suggestions. Conceived in the same mood which produced "Almayer's Folly" and "An Outcast of the Islands," it is told in the same breath (with what was left of it, that is, after the end of "An Outcast"), seen with the same vision, rendered in the same method—if such a thing as method did exist then in my conscious relation to this new adventure of writing for print. I doubt it very much. One does one's work first and theorises about it afterwards. It is a very amusing and egotistical occupation of no use whatever to any one and just as likely as not to lead to false conclusions.

Mental Unrest By Luc REYNAERT In these tales, people are put under heavy mental stress by fatal accidents, hostile environments or insoluble doubts. Their reactions become uncontrollable.The short stories give a good picture of Conrad's themes, story building with surprising outcomes and view on mankind: `Morality is not a method of happiness'.In `Karain: a Memory', a Malay war-chief makes an odyssey trying to kill a woman who left her native village with a white man. He becomes haunted by the spirit of his dead brother.In `The Lagoon', the adduction of a woman turns into a fatal accident. `There is no light and no peace in the world; but there is death - death for many. I left him in the midst of the enemies; but I am going back.'In `An outpost of Progress', two lonely `progressive' colonialists become haunted by their hostile environment; `a suggestion of things vague, uncontrollable, and repulsive, whose discomposing intrusion tries the civilized nerves.'In `The Return', a marriage turns sour on the impossible `certitude of love and faith'.In `The Idiots', a less successful offspring puts a marriage under extreme pressure.These sometimes furiously written stories with their high evocative power of landscapes, feelings and conflicts should not be missed.

Probing the Murky Waters ot the Soul By Plume45 his anthology of 216 pages provides an excellent introduction for new readers to Polish-born Joseph Conrad, who deftly paints on an English canvass. Having selected five of his tales the editors present readers with settings in both the exotic tropics of Malaysia and Africa, as well as the chilly social milieus of socialite London and pastoral France. Perhaps the editors chose the word UNREST for their title, because all the protagonists experience psychological malaise from a diversity of causes. KARAIN. This Malay chieftain feels cursed by his past, so he desperately seekst a new English charm to ward off his fatal stalker. THE IDIOTS. A simple French peasant couple are cursed by bearing children who are severely mentally retarded. OUTPOST OF PROGRESS. The title is sheer irony, since a useless African trading station is run by two ineffectual English agents. The men are pursued by their failed pasts, general laziness, incompetence, extreme heat and company indifference. THE RETURN. A young socialite husband returns home to discover a note from his wife, explaining that she has left him for another man. In this most psychological of the tales, the wronged husband undergoes a series of intense emotions and decisions, ultimately defying the very Society he represents. THE LAGOON. A native is pre-grieving the death of his beloved wife, unburdening his soul before his only white friend. Although this represents Conrad's first published short story, curiously it concludes this particular anthology. Prepare to explore the murky waters of the human heart and soul.

I would have given five stars, but these words do not hit the same level as Heart of darkness, Lord Jim, Nostromo or The Secret Agent.

This little book adds a whole new dimension to canning recipes, there is no "fluff" just straight up how to. If you like to can Jams, Jellies, or Fruit Sauces then this book is for you, and for the price it can't be beat. I recommend this book and give it five stars for it's straight forward easy content, and down home style. camo2460.

Excerpt from FOR AS LONG AS... Many moons and exactly seven years ago, I was an intern at one of the most prestigious medical colleges in the city of New Delhi. Valentine’s Day held little or no meaning for us – our group of sleep deprived over-worked bonded laborers whose lives depended on sewing the human flesh with the right stitch. Except, the day meant extra hours in the trauma center. For some curious reason, people liked to try to kill themselves, with or without their complete knowledge, on such days that are generally believed to be particularly happy ones. Excerpt from BROKEN “What is the one thing or one event that you would want to change in your life – past or present”, she writes on the blackboard. That is our essay for today. I stifle a laugh. That is easy. I would not have liked to be born. Better still, I would not have liked Rachit to be born. There, I said it. But of course I cannot write it. So I write about world peace instead. However, the idea stays with me for the rest of the day. And especially on my walk back home. What if Rachit had never been born? Dad would still be with us. Mom would still be with me. It would have been normal and I would have been a regular kid. What if, one morning, he does not wake up anymore? Would that make things better for us? What if - he simply died? She isn’t supposed to step out of a safe haven unaccompanied and if the circumstances are dire, she needs to be with men she calls family. Very creatively done By Adri Sinclair What a charming read!I loved it, I loved the stories and how they differ in character and situation but the gracefulness of the first story stays with you throughout the entire book - all the stories.Nabaneeta did an excellent job in capturing the environment without bogging you down with a over extended reach of details - and yet, there is something in the way it was written, that makes you wish you had a person to read it for you. That you could sit back with your eyes closed and just revel in the story-telling - because these are stories to be told... not just read. I think. Each one a neat little package dropped directly into your mind, wrapped up with a definite start and a definite end. Not to say I wouldn't want more, goodness no - but I didn't feel anything lacking. I didn't feel anything could be done more or less off. It is not often one story - let alone a collection of them - carries that kind of balance for me.What struck me in particular, was the spread. Very cleverly done. Very creatively done. Very charmingly done. There is something for everyone - Romance, Drama, Sci-Fi, Inspirational... I love, love LOVE that.Nabaneeta, thank you so much for sharing these, I cannot and will not choose a favourite - but the subjects you write about are honestly portrayed, with just enough imagination and heartfelt emotions to stick . I hope, if you've not done so already, that you would consider having these done in audio, have them told.Well done with this collection, adn thank you again, Nabaneeta Dangwal.xxx

Sharp & insightful with a dash of what if By Blake Malone I think the challenge for a very short story is to inspire an idea in mind of a much broader event or life or whatever is being portrayed. Here is a series of tales that cleverly achieve this. It’s like they lead us to some obscure corners of lives and get us thinking about what it would be like…. I thought each character and situation was developed and delivered with truth and absolute clarity. “Broken” is my favourite. Just brilliant! But it’s in very good company with this interesting variety of, well, yarns… Yarns are, of course, usually purported to be based on real life events – as these could well be.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A great read! By Stephanie This was a thoroughly entertaining read! I was a fan of the writing style - I appreciated the pace, the flow, the voice. I liked that each short story had it's own unique feel and went in it's own direction. I particularly liked, however, that the stories were quickly set up, then played out JUST enough to leave me hungry to play it out some more, on my own. This author found a way to wrap up each tale so it felt "concluded", but not ENDED. There's plenty of room for the reader to continue the story and find his/her own "ending". I love that I can go out on my daily walk or run and ponder what might happen next in each of the stories. It's a beautiful day out...I think I'll go do that right now! Thank you, Ms. Dangwal, for a great read; I look forward to checking out more of your work!

Amazing photography captures delicious food, mindful yoga along the St. Lawrence River, and inspirations that take you from your kitchen to your mat and beyond. Vegetarian recipes are easy to integrate into all eating lifestyles. I am devouring it; early favorites include Satiated (Not-Stuffed) Tomatoes and Lovee Zucchini Linguini. The Scorpion Sweet Potato Soup is sure to be a go-to comfort food this fall. For the Love of food and yoga is a beautiful pictorial captivating Yoga in the most beautiful natural environment on the St. Lawrence River with vegetarian recipes that could convert an omnivore into vegetarian after trying just one recipe! I have always been most inspired by cookbooks with visuals and this one takes the cake! The visuals alone of the food and yoga in nature are mouth watering and inspiring. About the Author David Stevens-Castro grew up in Chile playing in the vineyards on his grandfathers farm and inspired by his Aunt and Uncles wine analysis laboratory. Fast forward a few decades, with a degree in Agricultural Science under his belt (specialising in fruit and wine production) and a passion for food and wine in his belly, David set out exploring Australia and enriched his career as a sommelier in several five star locations. These days he is a highly respected wine expert, whos admirable palate is regularly employed for food and wine selection and menu design. Meanwhile Fran Flynn honed her skills in all things creative in the Emerald Isle of Ireland - before setting off on adventures that meadered through five continents. After working her way up through many creative agencies, this award winning photographer and designer settled in Australia and has enjoyed ten years running her own successful business. Beautiful and informative By Doug Erlandson "Paired," by the husband and wife team of David Stevens-Castro and Fran Flynn, is a beautifully put-together book that contains an informative discussion of sparkling wines and the foods with which they pair. As someone who is more familiar with craft beer and still wine (and their pairings with food) than I am with sparkling wines, I was glad to receive this book in exchange for writing an honest review. I was not disappointed.The layout is excellent. The pictures of the food were taken by Fran, and they are positively mouth-watering. They made me want to try my hand at them, even if I didn't have any sparkling wine on hand with which to pair them. (The recipes that accompany these pictures may take a bit of work, but they are not all that difficult, which, as far as I'm concerned, is always a selling point.) But what impressed me the most is the amount of information on the different types of sparkling wines (e.g., champagne, cava, prosecco, moscato, etc.), the region they come from, how they differ, the different methods used to create the bubbles, and what terms such as extra brut, brut, sec, vintage, reserve, etc. mean. This book is a great primer on sparkling wines, spelled out in a way that is clear and easy to understand. I came away from this book feeling that I had gained a great deal of knowledge about something of which I had been quite ignorant.The layout of "Paired" is stunningly attractive and shows that a lot of thought went into it. The book is attractive enough to be prominently displayed on the coffee table.Having read this first volume, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing future volumes (on white wines and red wines), which the authors tell us are in the works.

How to know to best put Champagne (or even to choose the right one in the first place) with the right food for the right occasion can be tricky or luck. Now there is a great reference to turn to when planning any occasion or simply to try champagne in a new light without it having to be just for a celebration which was my association before reading the book. Much about Champagne to explore now.Every recommendation is thoughtfully considered and you can't but want to open a bottle and go eat some of the foods that are so visually palatable and stunning. The detailed information about the types of Champagne and correlation to foods are awesome. Thank you for the ideas, recommendations and knowledge shared.

For a quick story I was very impressed with the character. My main complaint is that this wasn't in a Kindle friendly format and I had to resize each page by hand.

About the Author With the publication of A MOTHER'S TIME CAPSULE, Elizabeth A. Havey confirms her passion for writing. Graduating with a BA in English, Havey taught literature at the secondary level and later worked as a freelancer for McDougal Littell Publishing and Meredith Books. She then earned her RN and worked as an L&D nurse and health educator. Summers were dedicated to studying at the University of Iowa's Writing Workshops. Havey has published short stories, articles and CEU's for nursing and she co-wrote MIAMI INK. Born, raised and educated in Chicago, Havey now lives in Southern California, but the spirit of the Midwest remains fresh in her fiction. She is a member of the Women's Fiction Writers Association.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Thanks for many good reads - each story brought something different By Susan M. Darrow I really enjoyed A Mother’s Time Capsule by Elizabeth Havey. Having lost my mother at a young age, I wondered how I would relate to the short stories. I found that each store touched me in a different way – through a character, though an emotion expressed or through a situation or issue described. The stories were so well written and characters and emotions so well described. Some stories made me laugh and some made me cry. They all made me think about my own experiences as a mother and as a daughter.

While I enjoyed all of the stories, the last one about caring for a dying mother left me in tears -- not just because it unearthed feelings and experiences I had with my own mother -- but because I felt the author surely had to have been through those same experiences. It know it will resonate with many readers who have walked down the caregiving road.

Unforgettable, Memories of Mothers, a Love Connection By Carol Boyer Finding this author, reading her stories pulled me in immediately, my heart sweeping with so many emotions, relating on many levels to my own events in life. So many different ways we think of mothers, remember them, live to become one or not, but always bringing heart memories. Beth writes with literary beauty, at times her descriptions seem magical, tapping into all the senses of smell, sight and just feelings of longing, deja vu. I found myself laughing with joy, smiling silently at a memory from my own childhood, like seeing cookie crumbles on a tablecloth, hearing the whistle of the teapot, feeling the warmth of the steam, then turning to remember times I always loved watching the birds, scurrying to get to the seeds, as I still do. She brings the past to the present, unforgettable stories about childhood years, teenage angst, attempted suicide, marital strife, a woman's journey as her life changes, and one of the heartbreaking caretaking of a mother with dementia. Braced with strength, real truth, and always hope these stories stay in my mind, I related to so many emotions, especially the lonely caretaking for a loved one, the emptiness, the grief it brings but yet the lasting love and the knowledge of poignant, shared memories long past. I loved this book, and recommend it highly! And I hope to read more from this wonderful author soon.
