I tried my best to read it so I could find out where the story was going, but about halfway through I had to quit. Mr. Rich, you desperately need an editor. I ended up giving 2 stars only because the story did manage to hold my attention. For a short time anyway. I wouldn't recommend this story to anybody, as a matter of fact I would urge them to save their money.

The author illustrates the character of Mailyn beautifully, with just enough detail to allow plenty of scope for the imagination, and skillfully draws us into the story, leaving more questions than answers. I can’t wait for the release of The Key of Alanar!

By Kristina Kiedis I've never been a fantasy fan beyond Tolkien and Douglas Adams, but someone suggested “Kill the Past, Destroy the World” and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was! Couldn’t put it down. The story is dynamic, perfectly detailed without getting away from the context. It flows smoothly and is very well written; a gateway to another reality, and a beautiful one too! Bravo!P.S. - can’t wait to read “The Key of Alanar”.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. 3.5 stars: interesting, but somewhat concerning By Cissa This is an interesting book, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it.The good: it's an update of a historical French volume on preserving, and it's pretty comprehensive. It's supposed to have been updated to cover current knowledge of canning times,etc., but some of the hot-bath canning times, in particular, look far shorter than ones I usually see for similar items. it is also very comprehensive, with specific details and recipes to cover pretty much everything one might encounter.The problems: generally, what's available in the USA is rather different from what the French countryside had to offer 60+ years ago, and it would be hard to source many of the main ingredients. Also, see above about the updated times; I am not sure I'd trust the canning times without a separate confirmation for a similar recipe from a known, reliable source.Another negative- and this could be serious!: even a fairly casual reading found many, many errors in the text, even including mis-titling at least one recipe. This makes me even more concerned about trusting the canning times, etc.It's interesting, but more as a historical inspiration than a go-to for actual preserving. If you want something that's more relevant for us in the USA today, I'd really recommend Alice Water's "My Pantry".

Everything from the Cripsy Oyster & Bacon Pad Thai to "Very Warm" Pockets. It's very neatly organized by type of meal (eg. brunch/dinner/dessert). The only thing missing are the cocktails! The book is very informative and there are parts of the book that are very funny as well.

I can always Google small bites . Dale's recipes are scandalous, I had to get this!!! Even if I never get to make any of the recipes , just flipping the pages , reading the list of ingredients , with the crazy sauces made me drool . I want the fish with black bean butter , a huge pot of Singapore chile lobster . Nothing wrong with food porn!!! -no shame, now bring on that pot of rice please . and a platter of bao-ed lobster in warm Chile butter . Darn!! Thought I was ordering take-outs.

Fun, irreverent cookbook that's great as a gift and to keep, too By two kids and a dog We were big fans of Dale Talde when he was on Top Chef and then even bigger fans after having eaten at his restaurant, Talde in Brooklyn. I originally bought the cookbook as a gift for my foodie sister-in-law, but after flipping through the table of contents, I bought a copy to keep. The short ribs kare-kare recipe alone was worth it.
