Letting go and moving forward is a painful process that love can soothe By Jean Smith Cassie is a grieving widow experiencing the depths of sorrow on the 3rd anniversary of her husband's death while attending a medical convention. There she bumps into Jed quite literally and for the first time feels something for a man besides her husband. He's charming, funny and sexy as sin. Feeling like she is betraying her husband with each encounter she tries to avoid Jed but he proves unavoidable. Their weekend ends in what she hopes is a one night stand. Angry with him and most especially herself she races home to collapse in tears of confusion and the sense that she has betrayed her beloved husband.Jed doesn't give up though. Days later he shows up at her clinic and continues to pursue her. After confiding why she reacted as she did Cassie discovers the compassionate side of Jed. As their relationship and feelings deepens the author hints at a secret Jed is keeping. Mysterious phone calls and unanswered questions have Cassie concerned. Then Jed disappears. This story leaves you hanging and wondering at what will happen next. The author's writing is quite engaging. However I was disappointed to see it end as it did. Thankfully there are 3 more stories in the series so hopefully we'll find out just what happened to Jed and what dangers he brings to Cassie's life.

I really enjoyed the development of the characters and how emotionally engaging steamy details are.I can't wait to read the rest of the series! I hope Adlynn Flaharty keeps writing even more great stories. She is definitely on my list of new favorite authors.

Norris The story started out like a Cinderella fairytale that suddenly went down the rabbit hole. I love how Jed breaks through Cassie's walls to bring her back to the living reality she wants to forget. Cassie is a strong woman but Jed is putting her back down the rabbit hole again. Love the chemistry between Jed and Cassie and can't wait for the next book.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. These short stories are like potato chips, one is never enough. By Annabele This Collection of Short Stories is completely Awesome. I loved each separate story, some more than others. As a book with each letter originally released as a Short, having them all in one place is extremely convenient, and perfect for when you have to wait in line. Of the entire series, only three are on my least favorite (or just so-so) list, and that's saying something about this series. That said, on to my review. They are like potato chips, one is never enough.Highly Recommended.A is for Antichrist - While his parents go out for the evening, Isaac is allowed to celebrate his birthday with a party at home with some friends. As the evening progresses, everything seems to be going his way. Isaac begins to suspect something is different, regardless of anything or anyone else, Isaac knows this will be a birthday he will never forget! Totally awesome ride in a "OMG Gross, how cool is that?" way. One of my favorites from this series.B is for Bogeywoman - I absolutely loved this short story. I can still remember as a young girl turning off the light, then run-jumping on top of the bed [before I get a bedside lamp that is], just in case there was something under my bed that might grab me. As with most childhood fears, you thankfully outgrow them. Now there's not much out there (book or movie-wise) thatscares me anymore. Probably one of the many reasons I love Horror movies and books now. A Definite Favorite!C is for Clown - Stacey had been sitting and watching a movie for five minutes before she noticed the clown in the corner of the room. And why does It's nose keep changing color? This story progressed at an even pace right till the ending, where it fizzled. I will be reading several of the short stories from this series over and over again, but this won't be one of them. Though one bad story in an entire set is rare, usually there's more bad ones, but not in this set!D is for Degenerate: A homeless drifter with unusual sexual tendencies meets a farmer with a twisted sense of humor. I actually laughed out loud when I read this one. While some were offended to the point this short story was banned [due to content], I thought it was funny. In order words, I saw the joke for what it was. Probably due to my twisted sense of humor and being a Major Matt Shaw fan, if you like Matt's work, not much would shock nor offend you.NOTE: This version is Only available by joining Iain's mailing list. See his website to sign-up.D is for Detour: [By Guest Author Jacob Rayne] - Excellent short story, I kept losing focus because of all the typos. Hopefully the Guest Author (or Iain will correct them in a later update). Either way, the characters were well developed with a well thought out storyline. Good enough to give one a good feel for this author's work. I'll have check his other work.NOTE: This version of "D" was created by Guest Author Jacob Rayne to replace Iain's original (banned) version for "D."E is for Exterminator - Antworth Manor is in serious need of renovating, starting with all the bugs. Rats, spiders, and cockroaches have been making Antworth Manor their home for over a decade now. That old (showing my age here) T.V. commercial for margarine pops in my mind, it's catchphrase at least, "You don't fool with Mother Nature." Reading a short story by Iain Rob Wright about bugs is like having your child come home from school with a lice scare. You know there aren't any, but you can't stop scratching either. So as you continue to read, you can't help slapping yourself to get rid of imaginary bugs. Loved it.F is for Feral - Thirteen-year old Max is like any other boy his age, only interested in girls. Ever since a girl died in the nearby woods, it's been rumoured to be haunted, so when one of three girls wants to check it out, instead of being worried about the woods, he only cares about hanging out with girls. A different take on an old ghost story, I liked it, and the twist (if you read this you'll know what I mean).G is for Genome - Dr Lester Solberg is an old man adjusting to the thought of his upcoming retirement. That is, until he is offered a position to work at a secret scientific facility. An awesome short story that once again reinforces the words secret facility and Iain Rob Wright never equal something good. Another Great Short Story.H is for Hell - Take an Aesop Fables morality, add a dash of "You reap what you sew," flavor to taste with a dash of the imagination of Iain Rob Wright, and you end with a new meaning to the expressions "I should've stayed in bed" and "had a day from Hell." Barbara’s day starts bad and goes downhill fast. Another favorite.I is for Ice - As you begin to awaken, slowly feeling your body regaining a normal body temperature, you begin to notice a soft male voice, it's telling you to “stay calm, everything will be okay.” His tells you his name is Dr Faraday, the year is 2056, you and several other scientists entered cryogenic sleep pods. Before that happened, they were trying to find a cure for the Super Flu. An awesome short, strong characters, a tightly woven storyline, and excellent flow of events. One can only hope that someday Iain will write additional stories in this same storyline, would make an excellent prequel to a series, I'd buy it. J is for Jaws - A new reason to avoid swimming in the sea... Four friends in the Gulf of Mexico sunbathing on a yacht, until an unexpected guest arrives. I found certain parts humorous, more a thrilling haha than an "OMG ahhh" as you run screaming from a room, or in the case of this story, swimming. Great Short.K is for Klutz - I absolutely loved it. The twist within caught me by surprise, from one comment made by the old man, my mind pondered then dismiss it, only to be surprised by it later. After you read this short story, you'll understand what I meant. Great Short.L is for Lamia: Nobody likes a late night knock at the door One close-knit family, settled down for the night playing games before bedtime hear a knock at the door. Not expecting company, they wonder who on earth has the nerve to show up uninvited. For Patrick, the answer could be horrifying, especially if you happen to be in an Iain Rob Wright story.M is for Matty-Bob: A younger, up and coming author tracked to his home address by a crazed stalker fan, Matty-Bob bringing the horror from Iain's books to the real world. While stalking is a very serious and frightening experience, I love how Iain has turned this horrifying incident into a laughable, funny, freak fest of chills. There were certain parts where Iain's occasional daydream-like inner commentary, fugging pizzas, swinging testicles, and surreal comments, was just too darn funny, you can't help but laugh at Matty-Bob's antics.M is for Matty-Bob - Matty-Bob's version of the stalking incident, blaming others as the cause for his stalking is so far fetched, it confirms just how completely delusional he is. The thought of his ever being released from the crazy house.. hospital is down right freaky.N is for Nightmare - For Noddy, the evening was a fog filled night of drinking, drugs, and women. He can't even recall how he even got home. Now that he is, all he wants to do is sleep it off, hopefully without waking his mom. Unfortunately for him she woke up, did he make too much noise or was she waiting for him to come home? The rest of his evening goes downhill fast in true Iain Rob Wright fashion.O is for Orifice - Ever woken up without a mouth? Eleanor has. Next thing you know her day starts getting worse, was that an ear? Sorry, that's gone now too! Totally Creepy watching her freak herself out, yet think awesome, can't wait to see what Iain dreamed up to tie off this story. Others might not, but it's totally based on one's perception of funny-creepy or whatever, but I thought it was great.P is for Peeling - This short story is in my opinion one of the best stories in Iain's A-Z of Horror Series. So far, P is for Peeling is on my top Five favorites of this series, and there are several which are pretty darn fantastic. Charles dreams of being a writer. When The Gatekeeper Publishing Convention comes to town he believes he will finally get his chance, everyone knows stars are made from attending the convention, after all, several publishing houses come so they can to meet new authors. When he heard this year the convention will be in Birmingham, only ten miles away, believing its fate he prepares all year so he will be ready come convention day. Then he gets the flu, or is it? You can never tell in Iain Rob Wright's world, and Never trust fate where Iain is concerned!Q is for Quarantine - Want to visit Australia? Then leave your food at home. Not obeying the rules can lead to bloodshed. Especially if it's through the customs worker in an Iain Rob Wright story. Spenny works at the international customs section of the Australian airport. One day, before heading out for a break, Spenny takes some candies and an orange he confiscated earlier to the Quarantine lockers, they will remain there while waiting for disposal. That's when he notices something strange.R is for Revenant - Jason lost his girlfriend Helen one year ago in a freak accident. Tonight she came back, with no memory of the year that passed, she returns to find her best friend Rebecca is living with her boyfriend, at least the one she had before she died. As Jason tries to help Helen figure out where she's been the last year.. (didn't they attend her funeral?), Rebecca becomes even more jealous of the attention Jason gives Helen. But then you begin to wonder, if she was buried, why is she back?S is for Sand - Josh knew that asking a woman to marry you is a magical moment for any woman, something she will remember for the rest of her life. It’s important to do things perfectly. One of the most important things you "Don't" want to do, is endanger her life (unless you're both planning to bungee jump from a moving plane or something). Guess nobody told Josh that. Then again, if it went perfectly he and his intended (Madison) wouldn't be in an Iain Rob Wright story would they? [Insert Evil Laugh Here].T is for Troglodyte - Trevor is the tour guide of an old cave system, one which is rumored to be haunted by the Worley Witch. Unlike other caves you'd enter, this one has one major rule you need to follow ... Never, under any circumstances, attempt to summon the Worley Witch, Ever, not even as a joke. Unfortunately for Trevor and the rest of the party he is showing through the cave system, he has a severely disrespectful joker in the group.

7 of 9 people found the following review helpful. very disappointed By ahsilat I was so disappointed with this book. The worst thing about it was all the spelling and grammar mistakes!! Every story had at least one or two, E for Exterminator sticks out as one with the most in it. In this day and age that's just not acceptable. Secondly, the stories were really bad. The type of stuff a 14 year old boy obsessed with his penis might write. Seriously, there's a penis in every story. I made it through just so I could write a review knowing I gave this book every chance. I love horror. Horror this definitely is not.

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. A-Z of Horror (Volume 1) Iain Rob Wright By C. A. Isbell It was kind of disappointing, not the stories, but the fact that the book ends at M. What happened to the rest of the alphabet? That's not very nice Iain, and no I'm not going to go all Matty-Bob on you LOL. Just where's the rest of it?

I am glad this was offered free as each part was a separate book and each book was short. If I had to purchase to read I would not have read this story. I did very much enjoy this book(s)

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Short and lacking By Amazon Customer You should end one story and develop others instead of looking like a gold digger spreading a single into parts. This is just a lack of imagination. If I could give it less then one star I would.

10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Pretty but not practical By Illuminatus This is a very attractive little book with tantalising photographs of drinks and the Parisian bars in which one can enjoy them. There are also brief descriptions of the some of the best bars in Paris. The main problem is that the recipes themselves are of little practical value. Many are unnecessarily fussy, specifying particularly obscure brands of cassis, whisky, cognac or whatever when any top drawer version will do. Worse, the majority of concoctions require rather exotic ingredients such as hibiscus liqueur, ylang ylang water or lavender syrup that are not likely to find much use in the home bar. Indeed, such ingredients are unlikely to be found in professional establishments other than those in which the cocktails were created. Finally, there are some puerile errors. The classic "French 75" is made with gin not cognac. Every bartender in France knows that one never pours pastis onto ice before adding water as this crystalises the anethole (the volatile essence), resulting in an unsightly film on the drink's surface. And Ms. Belau refers to the Royal Monceau as a "four-year-old hotel" when it was opened in 1928. She also moves it to the rue de Rivoli from its address on the avenue Hoche.Nevertheless, this is a handsome volume that will provide a fair measure of browsing pleasure.

If you can't tell from the image of the cover, the cocktail glass is actually a cut-out that reveals a map of Paris, which is printed on the endpapers. The combination of cocktail recipes and scene-setting bar descriptions really do make you feel transported to Paris, and I love the combination of elaborate craft cocktails like the Peruvian Shrub and simpler concoctions like a classic champagne cocktail or vin chaud. Love this book -- perfect gift for francophiles.

A great look (and taste) of the new cocktail scene going on in Paris By kelly It seems crazy that Paris is just now getting a real cocktail scene, and even crazier that no one has ever written a book about it...until now. I've spent a lot of time in Paris, and this book takes me back to some of my favorite bars with some of the classic cocktails. Dang, the French glasses alone are just other worldly - so elegant and beautiful. I like how there's also great French bars listed in the US so I don't need to fly all the way to Paris to get my French fix. I'm looking forward to trying some of the new craft cocktail recipes in here too. With 100 recipes to choose from, I have some serious goals for the year. This is going to be a great holiday gift book.

Wild animals I have known (1898) by Ernest Thompson Seton, illustrated with 200 drawings. THESE STORIES are true. The animals in this book were all real characters. They lived the lives depicted here, and showed the stamp of heroism and personality more strongly by far than it has been in the power of my pen to tell. Natural history has lost much by the vague general treatment that is so common. What satisfaction would be derived from a ten-page sketch of the habits and customs of Man? How much more profitable it would be to devote that space to the life of some one great man. This is the principle I have endeavored to apply to my animals. The real personality of the individual, and his view of life are my theme, rather than the ways of the race in general, as viewed by a casual and hostile human eye.

About the Author Primarily a fantasy hound, Rebecca is an animal lover with a writing style that meanders between dystopian and urban. She lives by the seaside with her pragmatic other half and their cats in the lovely UK county of Yorkshire (where tea drinking is expected and dunking biscuits is mandatory). Her day job is friendlier than her plotlines might have you expect and her house is far less cluttered than her head, surprisingly. Occasionally she attempts to garden or clean, but is more often found with her face buried in new writing or the writing of others.A big fan of social media, chances are you'll catch her on all of these sites at some point during the day:Blog - rebeccaclaresmith.blogspot.co.ukTwitter - twitter.com/jocastalizzbethFacebook - facebook.com/RebeccaClareSmithsWritingTumblr - rebeccaclaresmith.tumblr.com
