Told in the form of a letter written by a vampire to his beloved, you will laugh and smile and feel his love for his ballerina. He's quite a character as is she. This is a short, sexy and sweet read that packs a punch and that is absolutely beautifully written.

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A Touching Tale By B. Warrick Wow! This was the first purchase I have made of material by this author, and I am so pleased that I took the chance! This was a quick read, but by the end of the story, you really love the main character, Roman, and find yourself missing him after the story is over. Never have I read a story where, in 62 short pages, so much of a character's deepest self is revealed.It was really quite moving to read Roman's story, all of which is written in first person in a very conversational and personal tone, as the narrative is placed in the form of a letter from Roman, a vampire, to his human lover, a ballerina named Maiko. In this letter, which is written by Roman over the course of one dusk-to-dawn night, Roman covers such topics as how he became a vampire, what his life as a vampire was like, and how he came to discover and ultimately pursue his lover Maiko. It is really quite a touching tale, for Roman is, at his core, a 'kind' vampire who does not wish to do unnecessary harm in the world if he can avoid it. And so you really can't help rooting for this kind and decent (if undead) 'soul', who, despite all odds, and much to even his own surprise, has found love!However, make no mistake, Despite his kindness, Roman is unapologetic about being Vampire...no 'vampire angst' here! In fact, he regards his state as a gift and sees many advantages on a number of levels, to being Vampire. He has merely made adjustments to his life and structured it in such a way as to make it unnecessary to kill anyone to feed.To say much more about the plot would ruin the story, but I simply must say a word or two about JT Geissinger's writing. Bottom line, she is a beautiful writer - easy to read and with a lyrical command of the language. These days, so many books you pick up (especially ebooks) are in DIRE need of an editor, but that is not a problem here. No mixed tenses, no changing of person in mid-paragraph (or even mid-sentence!) and no obsession with a particular word or group of words that are used so much in a narrative that readers want to run out in traffic! No....this woman can WRITE. And I bet she even owns a thesaurus! Reading this novella was like slipping into a bed dressed with satin sheets - so smooth and silky and EASY! Bottom line: She is not just a great storyteller, but a great writer who you do not have to struggle with through every paragraph. A real joy to read.As I mentioned earlier, I had not read any of her books previous to this one, but I will. I downloaded the first book in her series immediately upon completing The Last Vampire and look forward to reading it soon.

Written in the form of a letter to a newly made vampire, explaining the thoughts and feelings of the one who turned her. Beautifully written and very touching, it gives yet another possible explanation of how a vampire comes to be. Trying not to be a spoiler, but I must say I felt like crying at the ending. I loved it.

The first book contains all kinds of recipes for beef, chicken, seafood , fish, besides several goodies for breakfasts, snacks and desserts. I love to cook mostly dishes with chicken, seafood and fish, but for my husband occasionally prepare beef dishes, he loves them a lot. The second book is a guide into cooking in Dutch oven, I‘ve got a nice verity of recipes, but mostly I cook them over the weekends or during some holidays. Vegetarian options are mostly likable at this time, so yummy and healthy!

I had heard of dutch ovens but didn't know you cooked by using hot coals placed on the lid. The title of the cast iron cooking book is a little misleading since it mentions a paleo diet. The recipes are great, but many of the ingredients are modern and not what I'd consider paleo.

Great recipes By todd philip in this offer there is two books. they have 60 recipes in total. the first book cast iron has a 31 paleo diet recipes. one meal for each day of the month using cast iron skillets. the recipes is very delicious. I tried two of them so far. the first one is Pan Seared Steak. It was a marvellous recipe. the second one is Lemon Garlic Shrimps. this one is the favourate fot my wife. she loved it. i will try the other recipes. the second book the dutch oven contain 35 recipes. i will give a try to breakfast berger. there is also other delicious recipes i will try it in the future, i think this is a fair deal two books in a price of one. they both have more than 60 recipes. I loved these two books.

"This book provides an integrated treatment of the theory of mechanism design by a leading practitioner in this area. By Tangren "It may seem that we have gone to considerable length to derive a disappointing result, namely, a result that does not oer the seller any more sophisticated selling mechanisms than we are familiar with from elementary microeconomics. However, apart from introducing some technical tools that we use later in more complicated contexts, the reader should appreciate that we have uncovered a rather sophisticated rationale for a familiar everyday phenomenon. This is perhaps analogous to invoking Newton's law of gravity as an explanation of the fact that apples fall o apple trees. The fact is familiar, but the explanation is non-obvious. "

Every organ of our body must be taken cared of, and our kidney among others must not be taken for granted. We should give our kidney the proper care possible so that it will be away from the known kidney diseases. I believe we have read several books or magazines or any informative newspapers about these kidney diseases and how dangerous they are for our health. Personally this is the reason why I am reading this book. I want to get all the ideas on how to prevent kidney diseases, to know the symptoms and signs, the precautionary measures and most especially what are the foods to eat and should be prepared for people with or without the disease. This book gives out everything one must learn. Everything is discussed very well by the author. This is so useful and I treasured it so much.

By Lexi My sister may be developing kidney disease so I got this book hoping to find nutritional information and recipes that can help her. This was a good purchase. In the beginning it covers adjusting to the dietary changes, and then it delves into the recipes. I was suprised at how simply the recipes were. This is a good thing as I'm not a fan of cookbooks that have a bunch of ingredients in each recipe. The recipes include nutrition data; from micro nutrients to macro nutrients.

A Good Resource and Cookbook combination By Jennifer This is a helpful guide to eating right if you have a chronic kidney disorder and accompanying recipes to make the most of your condition. At the present time, I don’t know anyone who suffers from chronic kidney disease, but I did have one aunt who passed away a few years ago from kidney failure (she had Type 2 diabetes and had been on the dialysis treatments). I also had a friend once who had recurring kidney stones and was always having to monitor his potassium intake to the letter. Kidneys are important and sometimes other health conditions can lead to their lesser functioning.A well-researched blueprint of “dos and don’ts” helps patients out in the area of selecting the right cooking ingredients. You will see that the included recipes feature many familiar favorites, including “comfort foods” and yes, some desserts, as well. Not having to sacrifice taste for health reasons is a real boon here. Each recipe also includes nutrition details thoroughly point by point. Very much a great resource for those affected by renal disease.

I very much like the presentation of consequences of low data quality. The book does not only discuss these consequences from a qualitative point of view (such as low trust in results, postponing of projects, ...), it also shows quantitative results based on simulation studies. It is interesting to see the impact of different degrees of data quality on the accuracy of the outcome. Especially the simulation studies for predictive modeling provide much insight into the relationships between data input and model outcome.Read it - and apply the gained knowledge to your data projects!

The author fills this gap and shows what analytics really requests from data quality. I was delighted to see that "data availability" topics like the need for historic snapshots are well discussed also with relation to predictive modeling. The book helps me to explain my data requirements to my counterparts in a much more precise way and brings many convincing examples why data that is usable for simple reporting might still be unusable for analytics.

With his signature style to give clear definitions and to present encyclopedic plethora of information in a very organized manner, Dr. Svolba doesn't stop at outlying a solid data quality framework for analytics, but reviews various convincing real-life case studies with quantifiable impact of data quality on the project outcomes. The book offers SAS programs downloadable together with test datasets from the book's website, which is a part of SAS Community Wiki and is continuously updated with new material (a nice bonus to the book)."Diggers" like me may enjoy selecting a fact from the book and researching it deeper to find to their ultimate satisfaction that the author has covered and thought of it all. You may also like rolling up the sleeves and trying out some of the code examples and approaches on your own data. Curiously, while at it, I discovered that option ZEROMISS in ID statement of PROC TIMESERIES is not documented in SAS Help, but it works as described in PROC ESM. You may learn something new or refresh your knowledge even if you have years of experience in data analytics. For example, my current work focuses on text mining, but I used to built ARIMA models using stock prices and currency exchange rates and was glad for an opportunity to read about data quality assessment for forecasting projects. If you've never used SAS HASH object, you may try to use it following the example of Dr. Svolba that checks data completeness and data integrity.To summarize, the more you apply the concepts and methodologies from the book in your own projects, the more value you gain from the book and the more appreciation you have for the author who has done the "leg work" and made information conveniently available for many SAS users to benefit.

Martin *I was given this ARC by the author for a honest review*Romancing AustinThis was a very interesting combination of stories by various authors. I liked the combination of the different books which included contemporary and the paranormal. Each book had their seperate storylines but they were still all involved in each other and worked as a whole. Different but very enjoyable.No Quittng Allowed -Rebecca RoyceI absolutely loved this short story. It was the sweetest book. Loved the storyline and the characters were so likable. It was a very enjoyable read which I really wish could've been much longer. Loved it!Twisted -Cara CarnesI wasn't too sure about this book when I started as I'm not really into the whole rockstar romance but I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised, I loved it. Really liked the story and the characters were really sweet and engaging. It was a nice easy read which flowed well and I wish it could have been longer. Very enjoyable. And I'm definitely looking forward to reading book 2 in this series!Do Over -Chandra RyanLoved it. It's what I call a 'feel good read', makes you happy from start to finish. I don't normally read bdsm, it's not my kind of books but this was quiet mild and I really loved it. I liked the concept and storyline. It was interesting and it drew you in. The characters, Holt is a dominant alpha male who when you first start reading about him he appears cold and distant but in fact his awkward and insecure and Chloe is a just a sweet girl who has had enough of cheating men. They are two people who marry for convenience and end up falling in love. They share a great chemistry and the romance is hot!Tall Order -Irene PrestonI love M/M romance, it's one of my favourite genre's to read and I was not disappointed. It was such a sweet, heartbreaking story and I really really enjoyed it. And Dylan and Win/Aston how could you not love them really!Enchanted -Evelyn BerryVery enjoyable little story. It was short but it was a nice easy read. The story was interesting and the characters were sweet and good chemistry. Definitely worth the read!One Night with the Vampire -Jax GarrenI loved it. It was a really unusual read, a combination of shifters and vampires, but very interesting. Loved the storyline and the characters. Would be nice to read about some of the other characters in their own books!

Antonio Seven fantastic authors share their love for the city of Austin, Texas and its music festival South by Southwest (SXSW) by writing stories that take place there during the festival. They are loosely connected by Dex Reeds party. This is a terrific compilation by some wonderfully talented authors. And they say nothing good comes out of Texas…No Quitting Allowed, Rebecca Royce - The only books I’ve read by the fabulous Rebecca Royce have been paranormal so reading this contemporary was fun. Ms. Royce has brought the magic of Austin to a NYC girl. This story was a lot of fun and I really got a kick out of Lana and Jake.Twisted, Cara Carnes – I was iffy about this story until the middle. I didn’t get Shasta until then. I loved Psycho Bets her best friend and Caleb was hot. Worth the read.Do Over, Chandra Ryan - Who knew getting stood up at the altar was the best thing that could happen to a girl? Julie did much better the second time around.Consortium, Riley Bancroft – The review copy I received didn’t contain this storyTall Order, Irene Preston - m/m This is a sweet second chance romance. Win/Aston was sweet and kind of geeky and Dylan deserved a second chance. I was glad he got to experience both sides.Enchanted, Evelyn Berry - The first of two paranormal stories in the collection. I liked Dallas and Aurora. This story was a great blend of sweet and sexy.One Night with the Vampire, Jax Garren – I liked the story but have to admit I wanted to know more about Cash and Rhi than Alex and Sofia. Guess I will have to check out this authors back list.All I can say is run and get this collection. By SFF Dragon This anthology was given to me by Rebecca Royce for ARC review, and I've really enjoyed it so far. I say so far because I've only had the opportunity to read 6 of the 7 stories, but none of them are very short and all of them are a great read.With the exception of Rebecca Royce, all of the authors are new to me and I really enjoyed all of the books I've read. I will be adding the authors to my list of those to read. All of the stories are set in and around South-by-Southwest, the premier music and arts festival held in Austin, Texas and all include appearances by the singularly unpleasant rock star DBR aka Dexter Bryce Reed. Without giving too many spoilers, the books are:1. No Quitting Allowed - Rebecca RoyceLana Del Monaco, PA for the last five years to rock star Dexter Bryce Reed aka DBR, hates him and hates Austin and it's heat. He moved them there six weeks ago without a by-your-leave, she hasn't seen him face-to-face since but gets orders by text message. He treats her like a slave, still owes her money and she's finally had enough. Today she was going to force him to hear her resignation. She's going home to New York. On her way into the apartment block she meets, well gets bumped into by, Jake Perry.Jake Perry is a technical genius who has a host businesses and sees auras around people and paths which he should follow to achieve success. He sees a golden aura around Lana and just knows they are meant to be together.DBR is a petty, vindictive and childish person who thinks he can do anything he likes, pesters his PA, Lana, continuously to get him out of trouble of his own making and reneges on deals without a qualm. He should be in court on charges of blackmail and sexual harassment.No more spoilers, this is a short story with a lot of bumps in the road to true love, but there is a HEA even if it does take time to get it. 4 stars.2. Twisted - Cara CarnesShasta Monohan is conned into attending a Twisted Dilirium concert by her best friend Betsy as her birthday present. 7 years earlier, the lead singer Caleb 'Colt' Douglas had abandoned her to follow his dream of being a rock star, and Shasta was left behind with a broken heart and spirit, from which she's never recovered. But now Caleb is back to make amends and try get Shasta back in his life. The story has a heroine with a heart of gold and a self-centred 'hero' who is only now realising the damage he's done. But there is a HEA for them despite a rocky start. Very steamy. 4 stars.3. Do-Over - Chandra RyanJulia is jilted by text message on her wedding day by her now ex-fiance Rodger who also wants her to let him take his new girlfriend on her honeymoon, despite her having paid for everything. She decides that if anyone is going on her honeymoon, it's her. She flies off to Austin with no luggage and finds her room cancelled by the **** when she gets there. Sitting in a bar wondering where she will sleep, she meets the wonderful Luke Sinclair and finds a HEA. I loved this story. 4 stars.4. Consortium - Riley BancroftThis story wasn't in my copy of the anthology so a review had to wait until I'd read it. After catching her cheating ex-fiance, Adam, doing it again, Chloe has a very public and humiliating meltdown, during which she met Holt. He offered her a 'business' arrangement marriage, which would solve both of their problems, but his motivation is more than it appears on the surface. After some angst, there is a HEA for them, but I couldn't get a handle on Holt. I couldn't decide if he was a lion shifter or not. Very confusing, but didn't detract from the story. 4 Stars.5. Tall Order - Irene PrestonDylan is a very good chef, down on his luck after coming back to Austin after nearly a year in New York, and catering at DBRs party. Aston 'Win' Winkler is an artist and the love of his life. He foolishly thought Win would follow him to New York, but his personality can't take the city, so he stayed in Austin, and made it big on his own. Now they are meeting again and after a rocky reunion there's a HEA for them in this Gay romance. Not usually my kind of book, but love is love and this is a great story. 4 stars.6. Enchanted - Evelyn BerryI loved this story about the fairy princess, Aurora, and the human, Dallas Tanner, that she meets after crash landing in a churchyard, and falls in love with. She makes a conscious decision that she will not fulfill the mission she was sent on by her aunt Titania, Queen of the nine fairy kingdoms, but will accept life as her slave. This story is full of surprises, there is twist in tale and it's a really great read. I love Manuel. 5 stars.7. One Night With A Vampire - Jax GarrenSophia Valasquez is a massage therapist working all hours at the Urban Healing Massage centre to make ends meet. Alex Moreau is a two hundred year-old vampire, also struggling to make ends meet, but he manages to scrape together enough to pay for a massage and see her once a week. She is definitely 'the one' and he wants more from her than the kinks worked out of his muscles, but hasn't yet found the courage to ask her out. This is the wonderful story of two people, trapped in a dangerous world, who do the right thing and get their HEA. I love this story, and will be reading the rest of this series as soon as I can. 5 stars.

The structure of the work is simple: An unnamed country goes to war, and patriotic citizens attend a church service for soldiers who have been called up. The people call upon their God to grant them victory and protect their troops. Suddenly an "aged stranger" appears and announces that he is God's messenger. He explains to them that he is there to speak aloud the second part of their prayer for victory, the part they have implicitly wished for but have not spoken aloud themselves: the prayer for the suffering and destruction of their enemies. What follows is a grisly depiction of hardships inflicted on war-torn nations by their conquerors. The story ends with the man being ignored.

Malloy I have probably purchased over fifty copies of this book over the years; I can't seem to keep one for very long. I share it with people I care about, people who are open to other's perspectives, and people who tend to express opinions that they haven't really thought about. Every time I read it (and I have usually read every copy I purchased more than once), it moves me. More than any other work I have ever enjoyed, this book has dazzled me with the brilliance, the astute erudition, the passion and the restraint of its author, Mark Twain. As a retired Marine, as a parent, and as one who holds a degree in English, I heartily recommend a thoughtful reading of this work. Then I encourage you to do as I have done: share it.

Not Your Father's Huck Finn By Kevin West The "protest" writings of Mark Twain gained renewed interest during the anti-Viet Nam War Movement and the most prominant of these writings is "The War Prayer." From 1962 to 1973, it appeared in no fewer that 4 separate collections of his stories, including "A Pen Warmed Up in Hell'" and "The Damned Human Race." In 1970, Harper&Row published "The War Prayer" on its own , in hard cover, with haunting illustrations by John Groth. The story clocks in at slightly more than 1,200 words. It is Twain at his most economic. And most vehement. The story begins as an unnamed country prepares for war, its citizens awash with patriotic rapture. Parades, mass meetings and rousing speeches have almost everybody pumped and primed for a bloody good time. On the eve of battle, a service is held and the pastor invokes God's blessings on their cause and their armies. A stranger arrives "bearing a message from Almighty God." The Lord has heard their prayer, the messenger informs them, and is willing to grant it. But only after they have heard the unspoken portions of their prayer. The secret prayer, hidden in their hearts. Twain then unleashes a blunt tutorial on the ravages of war. "(H)elp us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreads with our shells,...Lay waste their humble homes,..wring the hearts of their offending widows...their little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land." Not exactly win-one-for-the-Gipper stuff. Just a handy reminder in the age of surgical strikes. In the Post Cold War Era, and 84 years after its initial publication, "The War Prayer" remains a devastating attack on any call to arms and the concept of just and winnable warfare.

12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Be careful what you pray for By Michael J. Mazza "The War Prayer," by Mark Twain, is a short, parable-like story. The text, which is arranged on the pages like poetry, is accompanied by John Groth's black-and-white illustrations. The entire book, although unpaginated, is less than 100 pages long. The story takes place in a time of war, when "the holy fire of patriotism" burns in every heart. Twain tells of a church service in which the congregation is preparing to send its young men off to war. But an aged stranger interrupts the service with a message of his own.The back cover of the book notes that "The War Prayer" was written during the Philippine-American war in the first decade of the twentieth century, was rejected for publication in 1905, and remained unpublished until 1923. Twain has crafted a harsh, bitter, and biting satire of how patriotism, militarism, and religion can come together. His searing message is well complemented by John Groth's stark, sometimes nightmarish images. Groth's impressionistic drawings look like he has lacerated the pages with his pen. Twain's "Prayer" has a timeless and universal feel. After all these decades, it still packs a punch.

By Sandra I always knew that your diet greatly affects your health, but I did not realize how much processed food I have been eating all these years. By reading this book, I learned that foods as as simple as milk and margarine (which I thought was healthier than butter) can be highly processed, eliminating virtually all of their natural nutrients! This simple fact was very shocking and disappointing to me, but I am glad I learned it! “Clean Eating” also taught me about the major health issues that exist in the world because of processed and unhealthy food. It can cause more than just being overweight, but can cause heart problems and other major health issues as well. I can’t wait to put the book to use and change my eating habits, which will in turn change my life! To anyone who is suffering with obesity or other food-related health problems, I encourage you to read this book and share it with your friends and family. You will learn a wealth of knowledge related to your personal diet, and you will learn how to fix your dietary problems. Do yourselves a favor and download this book!

Some things could be explained more in-depth so that we could get a really good understanding of what it going on inside our bodies, instead of just a basic lesson. It might be enough information for some people, but I would like a little bit more. Maybe follow up with a second book later on and that would help those who want to know more about health and clean eating.

I've recently been struggling with my health and weight and have been seeking answers. I guess it all goes back to that simple saying, "You are what you eat". I am looking forward to the next book, I am curious to see what happens to these characters. This book has a great balance of drama, action, mystery and even romance.
